riches of the poor
A band from Berlin
Riches of the Poor is the Berlin based Indie Rock project of Simon Breth (Keyboards, Bass, Cello) and Miky (Vocals, Guitars).
Simon is an accomplished Architect and classical Cellist, who’s often experimenting with sounds, noise and recording technics. Miky has been writing songs since the age of seven, singing and playing several instruments in bands in Bonn and Berlin since the 90s – mostly inspired by moody British and European acts such as The Cure, The Smiths, dEUS and Sophia.
Born on the very same day back in the seventies in different parts of the world, Simon and Miky started working together in 2015. They were soon joined by Ferdinand Hübner on drums and surrounded Miky’s depressed pop songs with a folky groove.
On their second single “Liberal Theocracy”, Miky’s going political, denouncing the moral decay of his home country Israel/Palestine, where religion and nationalism inspire a self-righteous apartheid regime. An original protest song reminiscent of Neil Young and John K. Samson, now more relevant than ever.
